It’s easy to slip into relax mode and adopt the “schools out” mentality during the summer. So why not use this time to improve your health with a few easy steps that are virtually effortless? We have created a list of the easiest ways for you to become and stay healthy all summer!
Plant a Garden
Get a little dirty and relieve some stress. We all live life in the fast lane and sometimes we just need to stop and smell the roses (literally). If you don’t have room for a garden try planting your favorite flowers in a few flower pots.
Add Some Berries
Hot weather calls for a cold diet. Spice up your normal eating habits with a cup of fresh berries (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries) every day. They are packed with antioxidants that will help fight off age related illnesses. Not to mention they are super tasty and can be served in a variety of ways.
If you are tired of being cooped up in the gym try taking your exercise outside. Pick one activity – riding your bike, going on a hike, playing soccer with your kids – and stick with it all summer. You will be surprised at how much weight you can loose and how much better you will feel. Top it all off with some vitamin D to increase your endorphins & make you happier.
Sleep is very important and ensures that our bodies function that way they should. Unfortunately there are only 24 hours in a day and we are quick to cut our sleep time to compensate for work deadlines or family matters. Long summer days make it harder to fall asleep early even if we do have time. As hard as it is try your best to get a full nights sleep and you will actually end up being more productive during the day.
Take a Vacation
That’s right take a vacation! Do your heart a favor and take a trip to your favorite place. If you live a high stress lifestyle chances are you have (or will have) high blood pressure. Vacationing helps to reduce your blood pressure and slow your heart rate. Did you know that stress hormones can also cause weight gain? That means that taking a vacation can help you loose weight (mind blown)!
